Google Girl sent me this ultra-mysterious photo of a gentleman with a squirrel on his shoulder. She referred to him only as “client.” Instantly I connected with these warm souls: the older man and the squirrel, I mean. For those of you playing along at home, me and my fiance raised orphaned squirrels for a solid three months before releasing them successfully, and tearfully, into the wild.
It’s been over four months since we released Max, Swan, and Ajax into the big tree in the front yard, and every once in a while well see them making mischief amongst the branches. I miss hand-feeding them almonds and then having them fall asleep on my chest, but can fight nature’s call.
So cheers to you, Squirrel Shoulder Soldier!
