If your cell phone is your primary phone (and most likely it is) you might be out of luck next time you try to order food. Police say lost of food delivery drivers in metropolitan areas are getting robbed by people using cell phones to target them. Some restaurants are now refusing to deliver to cell phone customers following a rash of robberies in the Chicago area. There are concerns that this crime trend may spread to other areas.

One Chicago area restaurant owner explains how he had a delivery driver shot a few years ago and he’ll take this new rash of delivery driver robberies very seriously. While police aren’t necessarily pushing for restaurant owners to outlaw deliveries to locations called in on cell phones, they are hoping restaurant owners will use their common sense and size up the area and the potential threat it poses.

Police also listed cell phone numbers on the alert to help protect local businesses. A lot of folks don’t have land lines anymore, so if restaurants start refusing cell phones orders, they could lose a lot business. Be careful!
