Steve Jobs, one of the most important men of our generation passed away yesterday at age 56, presumably from the pancreatic cancer he was diagnosed with in 2008. His sickness sadly forced him into retirement back in August, but I don’t think anyone could have guessed he’d be gone so soon.

The examine Jobs’ effect on national culture look no further than a bus, a busy city street, an airport, etc. You’d be hard pressed to not run into someone listening to an iPod, talking on an iPhone, or scheduling on an iPad. His innovations and rebellious approach to nature changed the way we listen and share music – heck, he changed the music industry, period. Here at One Fat Frog Restaurant Equipment, we use Macbooks and iPhones every day to conduct business. His work at Pixar helped make it one of the most successful movie studios in the business; creating such instant classics such as Toy Story, Finding Nemo, and Up.

The public’s reaction to his death is one of mourning and communal loss. He affected all of our lives and he’ll be severely missed. RIP, Steve.
