Yo quiero Taco Bell para el desayuno just doesn’t have the same ring. But who knows, it could be the next biggest fast food thing. One Fat Frog loves a good breakfast, especially when nice customers bring us doughnuts and other goodies.
It’s not often that Taco Bell makes changes to its menus. Every couple of years the restaurant tries out a few new items for its taco lovers, with the Doritos Locos Tacos being the best thus far, obviously. A few of the new breakfast items will include: A.M. Crunchwrap, Waffle Taco, Bacon and Egg Burrito, and the Sausage Flatbread Melt. I’m not so sure that this will be a big hit. The chain taco restaurant has my heart when it comes to a quick, cheap lunch or a late night snack. But an early morning crunch attack? The Frog is uncertain.
The breakfast competition is already heating up with competitor McDonald’s, who has been the front runner for fast food breakfast for many years. The Frog heard that Taco Bell is trying to step up the game by serving breakfast ’til 11 a.m. This is a half-hour longer than Mickey D’s serves breakfast. We’re wondering if they’ll bring back Mtn Dew A.M. to take it to the next level. But then again, we don’t need anything to get the heart pounding with morning traffic as it is.
According to the Associated Press, TBell is planning to put this breakfast menu into motion in the spring, on March 27. The new menu has been tested in about 6,000 U.S. locations during the past few months. (Maybe they’ll bring some samples to the Frog. One can dream…)
With this new breakfast menu, the chain restaurant is going to need some more flat griddles, salamanders, ovens and fryers. The Frog loves expansion in menu, equipment and staffing. I guess we’ll have to wait another month to decide if we love Taco Bell’s new breakfast menu as well.
