Here at One Fat Frog, we always try to have fun. We love restaurants, bars, bakeries, pizzerias, anyone in the food service industry who can take (or make) a good joke or two. After all, you’ve got to break up all the serious food talk every once in a while with a pun.
Why so serious? It’s okay to have some laughs at your place. There’s a reason it’s YOUR business; you get to run things the way you want to. As a restaurant owner, you have to get the hang of improvising. You never know what mess you might get yourself into–food or customer-wise.
You know how important it is to keep your cool under pressure in the restaurant industry. When an angry customer is yelling, realizes halfway through the discussion that he or she is wrong, but continues to go on, you know to listen with empathy. You bite your tongue and smile, assuring the customer that you will take care of the emotional damage by giving the person some sort of discount or freebie. Everybody’s happy in the end. Or at least they try to be.
Why not de-stress your customers (and yourself) with some improvised comedy? It’s unpredictable, “you never know what you’re gon’ get.” It’s the perfect recipe for a good time at your restaurant. Take a backseat from your own improvising and let your customers have a few good laughs.
A little sketch comedy troupe called the Humor Mill Orlando performs improvisation in the Central Florida area for your entertainment. They are an improvise group, and they perform at venues, such as the Breakthrough Theatre in Winter Park.
The comedy troupe is asking your restaurant to host one of their shows. Fill your crowd with food and laughter. It’s double the fun. If you’ve got a restaurant or a bar for the troupe to light up the room, then you can take a break from the usual routine and get your customers laughing.
You can book a day or nighttime private performance for the troupe to visit you. If you don’t have many customers during the day, draw them in with the Humor Mill. Or if you’d like to add to your already-bumping night crowd at the bar, book a private performance. Everything will seem twice as funny with a little alcohol. Am I right?
Keep things fun, and switch it up every so often. Serve up some laughs at your restaurant. Improvise with your plans and check out the Humor Mill Orlando: http://www.thehumormillorlando.com/ourcompany.htm.
