If there’s two things that One Fat Frog loves, it’s honoring veterans and eating pancakes. You might think those two things don’t go together, but you would be wrong. The Frog was happy to hear that our neighbors in Volusia County are holding a parade and breakfast to honor veterans tomorrow. And yes, pankcakes are involved.
This Frog tends to be lazy on Saturdays and only roll out of bed when it’s time to get ready to head out for a football game. There are some things in life, however, that are important enough to get me out of bed early. Two of those things are honoring veterans and eating pancakes (are you noticing a theme here?).
Starting at 7:30 in the morning, Mainstreet Grill in Deland, Florida will be host to the Faith, Hope & Charity Veterans Day Pancake Breakfast. If you’ve never eaten there, take it from this Frog, their pancakes are worth crawling out of bed early. Tickets for those pancakes are $5, but if you’re a veteran dressed in uniform, there is no charge. That means veterans can load up on delicious pancakes for free as a thank you for their courage and service. But that’s not the only way they’re saying thank you. The breakfast will end at 9:30 in the morning, followed by the Volusia County Veterans Day Parade at 10:00.
What’s more, the money spent for those pancakes goes to a good cause. Mainstreat Grill isn’t pocketing any money here. Instead, all proceeds are going to Faith, Hope & Charity Society, who will then use the funds for grants to local charities.
If you’re interested in going, Mainstreet Grill is located 100 East New York Avenue, Deland, FL 32724. Even if you can’t go, One Fat Frog hopes you will take time this weekend to thank and honor the brave men and women who serve our country. Veterans Day is Monday, November 11.
