It all started as a small gathering. Now, it’s known as the 4th Annual Orlando Chili Cook-off, where some of the best cooks in the Central Florida area come out to show they make the best chili. And you know it’s official because it’s sanctions by the Chili Appreciation Society International, an organization that not only sanctions chili competitions across the country, but they have also helped to raise millions of dollars for a variety of charities. The event is being hosted by Events for Change, Inc. and will be raising money to benefit a truly worthy cause, Special Olympics Florida.

So what can you expect to see from this event? Aside from tasting a whole bunch of chili (which I personally will enjoy a whole lot), there are also going to be bands performing as well as, for the first time ever, a chili-eating contest featuring three amateurs and 12 of the biggest competitive eaters in the country, including Joey Chestnut, six-time Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Champion.

The Orlando Chili Cook-off will take place at Festival Park, next to the Orlando Executive Airport, on February 9th from 12pm to 6pm. Adults can get presale tickets for 7 dollars before February 8th, and are 12 dollars the day of the event. Kids 6-12 get in for 3 dollars, and kids under 5 years old are free. If you purchase your tickets online, you must bring a printed copy of your receipt and a photo ID. And yes, you get to vote for your favorite chili, so come hungry!
