So, let’s say you’re a regular reader of the One Fat Frog blog and you live in Orlando, or you’re looking to visit Orlando sometime in the near future. Well, you should make the near future as near as possible, because Orlando will be entering Magical Dining Month. Basically, for the entire month of September, several great upscale restaurants will be hooking you up with the chance to dine for a price not too often found in these establishments.
So, you want some examples, do you? Want to make sure the ole Professor’s not blowing smoke, eh? Fair enough. So, first, here’s how the routine works: for the entire 30 day span of September (yes, 30 days has September), you can go to a variety of restaurants around the Greater Orlando area and select from a prix fixe, three-course menu for one simple price of $33 each. That’s right…$33 per person. And with over 60 restaurants participating, including two restaurants owned by celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse, the Citrus Restaurant in Downtown Orlando, several Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse locations, and so many more, and each restaurant having their own menu, the possibilities are endless.
And you think that’s good? It gets better. Let’s say you and the wife are looking for a vacation (or if you’re local, a stay-cation), then you’re still in luck. Many of the participating restaurants are located within some of Orlando’s best and most recognized hotels, such as the Swan at Walt Disney World. You get a great nightly package plus dinner arrangements. Just imagine a weekend away from the kids…how many parents are getting on the phone right now to call Grandma for baby-sitting purposes?
And in case you thought that was it, here’s the best part: it’s all for a good cause. Not only does it give a great opportunity for anyone to get to these high-end restaurants, even on a really tight budget, and bring attention to the Orlando area for tourism, but one dollar from every meal purchased on the prix fixe menus will go to the Ronald McDonald House Charities in Central Florida. So, great meals, great restaurants, and a great cause. It’s hard to imagine any other way to spend the month of September.
