Let me be the first here at One Fat Frog to wish each and every one of our readers and customers a very happy National Hot Dog Day! And seeing how I absolutely love hot dogs, it only seems appropriate that I share with you some amazing facts about hot dogs.
-There is no official record that proclaims today to be National Hot Dog Day, but really, does anyone care? It’s National Hot Dog Day!
-We buy over 837 million packages of hot dogs every year, and in baseball stadiums alone, we consume over 24 million hot dogs. I haven’t been to a baseball game in a while, but I’m sure I’ve done my own share of that.
-Which city consumed the most hot dogs last year? You’d think New York City as they are hot dog vendors on almost every corner, but you’d be wrong. It was Los Angeles with over 95 million dogs wolfed down.
-If there was a day to eat lots of hot dogs, we all know it’d be Independence Day where Americans eat 150 hot dogs, which is enough to stretch across the country from Washington, DC, to Los Angeles…five times.
-The world’s biggest hot dog was made by Sara Lee Corp. in 1996 in honor the Olympic Games that year. It was, you guessed it, 1,996 feet long.
