So you’ve worked hard to get your bar started. You spent money on your concept, your location, your equipment (far less than you would have because you came to us first), and now you’ve got to get people in the door. Well, there’s lots of ways to do that, from using Facebook, buying newspaper ads, or standing on the street corner and flip a cardboard sign in the air. (By the way, those people who do that are awesome.) But another way to do that is by running promotions in your business. Those promotions are a great way to spread the word that you’ve got some good times when coming in the door. Here is a list of some popular promotions you could try:

-Radio station promotions: I remember a local radio station here used to do a Hottest Bartender in Central Florida contest. The winning bar had the radio station come out and celebrate with the revealing of the hot bartender’s new photos. That contest was awesome. Of course, there are other radio station promos too, but….what was I talking about?

-Create an events schedule: if you’ve got karaoke on Wednesday, college football on Saturday, or live music on Friday, then make these regular events. People want to know where to go for these things, and if they know you offer them on a regular basis, then they’ll turn your bar into their regular location.

-Ladies’ Night: (Insert the song here.) Here’s the golden rule of bars: men go to bars to meet women, so bars need to bring in the women. So by offering a ladies’ night where ladies get discounted drinks or no cover, you bring in the ladies, and then the men will follow. See how that works?

There are plenty more promotions you could try, but these are pretty common, and it’s a good place to start. By the way, once you start up your ladies’ night, let me know. I need to get out more.
