When you’re a patron at a bar, there is nothing more annoying than waiting too long for a drink.

Just recently I was sitting a bar near my home with a friend.  We were there for Trivia night, a common event at any bar.  We arrived and took one of the high chairs at the bar.  We were feet away from the service station with the two bartenders running from one end of this long bar to the other, refilling drinks and flirting with girls.  Meanwhile, my friend and I sat there…thirsty.

The next round of trivia had begun, with random questions testing both my own personal common knowledge and the idea in my head that I know more than everyone else.  And as that round started, I was hoping for a drink to help my thought process (or hinder it, apparently).  But still, there was no beer in front of me.  Finally, after waiting for a time that is probably not as long as it seems, I was asked what I wanted by one of the bartenders.

The beer was delicious (which you would expect…it is beer after all).  And trivia was going as well as it could under the circumstances of not knowing the answers.  After a certain amount of time had past, my pint glass found itself empty and desiring to be refilled.  And where were the bartenders?  Honestly, I don’t know where they were at the time; I just needed a dramatic question.  I don’t remember how long I waited for my second beer, but I know it was longer than how long it took to get my first beer.  By the time I got my second beer, trivia night had ended (and no, I didn’t win).

Everyone knows that bars can be busy places.  And everyone knows that busy places can cause distractions.  But this night was not busy for this bar.  So the number of distractions was pretty low, maybe even none.  You never leave customers waiting too long, especially if they just want a drink.  And especially when they are going to attempt to do trivia.  Get on the ball, people!
