Who knew a 20-year-old tub of McDonald’s BBQ sauce would be worth so much money? That’s what Mort Bank of Bismarck, North Dakota was probably thinking when an anonymous buyer in Chicago bought his container of McJordan BBQ sauce for $10,000. Actually, Mort Bank was probably thinking “Holy $@#*, I just made $10,000!”

Bank used to own McDonald’s restaurants in ND and he saved the container (along with several storage bins of McDonald’s memorabilia).

The sauce is named for Michael Jordan and was used on McJordan Burger, a promotional item sold in limited markets for a brief time in the 1990s. That’s the time when Jordan was pretty much the most popular dude in the world. Of course he deserved his own burger.

Bank decided to put the McJordan BBQ sauce container on eBay. He advertised it as the “rarest of rare” piece of Jordan merchandise in the world. Which I’m sure it is.

I once paid $45 for a rare VHS and felt bad about it, but this is a new dimension in disposable income.
