One Fat Frog Restaurant Equipment is holding a donation drive for Pathways Drop-In Shelter for the mentally ill homeless in Central Florida! At either of our locations – Orlando and Sanford – we’ll be accepting donations for the shelter.
Items the shelter is specifically looking for are large to x-large tees, blankets, sleeping bags, full-size towels, cool weather clothing, soap, laundry detergent, toothpaste, toothbrushes, non-perishable food items, canned goods, etc. Bring them in to either of our locations and we’ll make sure they get to the shelter.
If you want to donate money, you can do so through the Pathways website. The shelter is a 501(3) c non-profit organization, so you can use it as a tax write-off if you like. One meal at Pathways costs about $1, so giving even just a little while go a very long way.
If you’re a part of a church, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, or any other community organization, helping out our donation drive for Pathways would make a great community service project. Get organized and give back to the community!
The last time we organized a drive for Pathways, one woman, unannounced, came into our Orlando office with a box of hats she had knitted. She had seen our information online about Pathways and got to knitting. One month later, she had a box full of knitted hats ready to donate. That’s some amazing work right there.
Many of the items you can donate are what are called “painless” donations. This refers to items you would have just thrown out – for example maybe you’re replacing your bed sheets or just bought some new towels. Instead of sending the old ones to the dump, donate them. Give them a second life with people who need them!
If you have a large amount of dry goods and non-perishables you’d like to donate, give us a call. We’d be happy to send one of our trucks out to you for pick-up. Absolutely not a problem.
