Inc. stated recently that consumer sentiment, gas prices, and some job growth should provide those in the foodservice industry with hope – as they explain in their note subtitled “Resilient operating fundamentals provide a reason for hope.” They discuss that recent macro economic data appears to point toward gradual improvement – peaking as consumer sentiment hit a five-month high this past week.
They also explain that many foodservice chains could possibly see a slight benefit in December through February 2012, as the winter is supposed to be less harsh than 2010-2011.
Restaurant analysts Destin Tompkins and Bob Derrington stated that the restaurant industry made it through the third quarter of 2011 reasonably well. 23 restaurant companies reporting quarterly out of 33 documented that they beat expectations.
